Preserve the Tano. Preserve the Future.
💧 About the Project
Tanoriver.com is an independent initiative born out of a deep personal connection to the Tano River — a river that flows between Ghana and Côte d’Ivoire, and a name passed down to me from my grandfather.
This platform was created to inform, educate, and raise awareness about the cultural, ecological, and historical importance of the Tano River. Our mission is simple yet urgent: to document, preserve, and protect one of West Africa’s most vital yet threatened rivers.
Through original articles, visual storytelling, scientific insights, and cultural exploration, this site serves as a living archive — a space for memory, action, and hope.
🌱 Our Core Goals
- Promote environmental awareness about the challenges the Tano River faces (pollution, illegal mining, deforestation).
- Highlight the river’s cultural and spiritual significance to local communities across Ghana and Côte d’Ivoire.
- Support grassroots and academic initiatives that protect the river.
- Build a transnational network of individuals, researchers, artists, and communities invested in its future.

Everyone has a role to play. Whether you’re from Ghana, Côte d’Ivoire, the diaspora, or elsewhere — if the river speaks to you, you’re already part of this collective.
🌐 No NGO. Just a Movement.
This project is not run by an NGO.
It is powered by passion, research, technology, and people like you.
Together, we can create a community of river defenders and shape a future where the Tano is not only remembered, but revived.
